About Me
I am the Chief Executive Officer of Alchemy. Alchemy is a materials science company with operations in the automotive and defence sectors, and has played a major part in creating the experiences and forming the perspectives I write about.
I also teach a Master's course on early-stage Product Development, Business Strategy, and Financial Planning (MEIE 8008) at Toronto Metropolitan University. I took this challenge on to reconnect with & strengthen my business fundamentals and to give back to other early stage founders; it has been an immensely rewarding experience on both fronts!
Prior to that, I interned with the Internet Marketing team at Facebook where I worked on a wide range of projects. I was initially hired to manually prepare Excel files with millions of lines for Google Adwords campaigns, something that took my predecessor two weeks per file. After the first couple of times Excel crashed on me, I decided to learn Python and automated the whole thing within two weeks of starting there. I spent the rest of my internship doing data analysis for both the email and SEO/SEM marketing teams, and building a churn prediction model to predict Facebook's monthly churn with 98% accuracy and 29 days in advance.
I also interned at Harvard Medical School working on the oocyte cryopreservation team focusing on two projects: 1) Recovery of vitrified picoliter sized droplets from liquid nitrogen, and 2) Developing microfluidic chips to minimize cell damage from cryoprotectant loading. Despite enjoying the research, I realized academia just didn't have the right motivating factors for me and so I ended up deciding to focus on working in the industry instead.
I've also done quite a bit of full-stack web development and coding in various languages, and often have a hobby coding project on the go.
In my downtime, I enjoy snowboarding, paddleboarding, woodworking, hiking, gardening, and sports (ice hockey and cricket).
